Mary Immaculate College (MIC), in collaboration with Tipperary ETB and Limerick and Clare ETB (LCETB), has launched a new five-year programme that introduces an additional pathway into primary teaching. The initiative aims to broaden access and support greater diversity within the teaching profession.
Announced at a launch event in Dublin by the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless TD, and the Minister for Education and Youth, Hildegarde Naughton TD, this strategically distinctive programme offers an alternative entry route to the Bachelor of Education – Primary Teaching, moving beyond the traditional Leaving Certificate pathway.
MIC is the first higher education institution in Ireland to offer a tertiary pathway of this kind into primary teacher education, marking a significant step forward in widening participation and access to the profession. Read more here
