Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Animation, Visual Effect and Motion Design (Level 8)
Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Animation, Visual Effect and Motion Design (Honours) enables you to develop the skills and knowledge that you need to thrive in our dynamic visual story telling industry. The programme will equip students to become competent animators, exploring the core principles of creative film making animation and visual storytelling throughout their degree.
Course Structure
In this four-year programme, students will complete the first two years in Kerry’s College of FET – Clash Campus or Cork College of FET – Douglas Street Campus, followed by two years in MTU – Kerry Campus. Students register with MTU from year one and will have access to the full range of services offered by both MTU and the FET college.
Accreditation and Step Back Awards
- On successful completion of Stage 1 (Year 1), students will receive QQI level 5 award 5M2146.
- On successful completion of Stage 2 (Year 2), students will receive QQI level 6 award 6M20496.
- On successful completion of Stages 3 and 4 (Years 3 and 4), students will graduate with the MTU award of BA (Hons) in Animation, Visual Effect and Motion Design MT811.
Entry Requirements
Candidates seeking entry to this programme should have a minimum of a pass in Mathematics and English at Ordinary Level Leaving Certificate ( or equivalent) and display an active interest in digital technology.
Portfolio: Creative work can be displayed through a portfolio of artistic assets, for example, photography, short animation work, storyboards and other creative elements. All prospective candidates will be interviewed, and places will be awarded on merit.
Applicants whose first language is not English and who have not been educated through the medium of English must demonstrate CEFR 19 proficiency at B2 for access. An Irish Leaving certificate qualification achieved through English meets this requirement.
